Sandy Level………Joan Adkins Barbour, age 62 of Sandy Level passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 surrounded by family.

Born November 28, 1962 in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Roy Douglas Adkins and Nancy Barbour Adkins.  She was also predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Rowland and Brenda Adkins; and an infant brother, Ricky Adkins.

Joan loved to cook, laugh, have family together, shop, the beach, gardening and her dog, Stella.  Joan was a strong, loving and giving person.

She is survived by her partner of 26 years, Jennifer Crews of the residence;  two brothers, Michael Adkins and wife, Patricia of Gretna and Timmy Adkins of Gretna; nephew, Shain Rowland and wife, Amanda; nieces, Christy Dawson and husband, Joel, Lisa Adkins and April Towler and husband, David; great-nieces and great-nephews, Lucas, Alexandria, Kaden, Emily, Kanen, Mason, Hailey, Brett, Jonah, Nikki and Caroline.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care and love shown to Joan and her family.  A special thanks to Dan, Kim and James for healthcare needs given in her final days and for helping Jennifer.  Also, a thank you to her cousin, Candy Brooks; and friends, Tammy Armes and Melissa Reamey for their love and support. A thank you to all those who brought food, showed love, prayers, and visits to show so much love in return for how she treated others.  Thank you to Julie and Devin Taylor with Camper's Care for having her run the food truck before her health declined, which was a dream of hers.

To know Joan was to love her.  Though you are no longer here your spirit will remain in my heart.  You will always be the beacon of light that will never fade.
