Obituary

Gretna…..Jo Ann Hines Betterton, age 52 of 897 Watlington Road, Gretna died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born January 30, 1963 in Chatham she was a daughter of Dorothy Tuck Hines of Pittsville and the late Anderson Jackson "A.J." Hines. She was predeceased by two nephews, Joey Brumfield and Lafe McCluster. Mrs. Betterton was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and was a Loan Pre-Closer at First National Bank in Altavista. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, loved to shop, and loved her two pets, Petey and Isabel. Jo Ann especially enjoyed family gatherings on Sunday afternoons at her mother's home.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Tim Betterton of the residence; three sons, Jake Betterton and his girlfriend, Maegan Irby, Jesse Betterton and his girlfriend, Brooke Moorefield, and Joseph Betterton, all of Gretna; four brothers, Wayne Hines and his wife, Juanita of Hurt, Tim Hines and his wife, Tracey of Chatham, Donald Hines of Gretna, Ronald Hines and his wife, Angie of Gretna; four sisters, Brenda Clay and her husband, Ronnie of NC, Linda Goad and her husband, Burke of Gretna, Doris Brumfield and her husband, Andy of Pittsville, and Sheila McCluster and her husband, Ronnie of Gretna; one grandchild, Corey James Betterton; a caregiver, Kim Moore; a special nephew, Zachary McGill; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2015 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the SPCA of Pittsylvania County, P.O. Box 936 Chatham, VA 24531.
