Gretna…..Jimmy Shelton, age 84 of 468 North Meadows Road, Gretna died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born September 9, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Fletcher Hall Shelton and Blanche Meadows Shelton. He was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew Shelton, Raleigh Shelton, and Fletcher Shelton, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Moser, Lilly Meadows, Rena Meadows. He was a farmer, and a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Gretna. He enjoyed fishing, and working in his yard, and garden.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Meadows Shelton of the residence; two sons, Jimmy Ray Shelton and his wife, Vickie of Gretna, and Randall Shelton and his wife, Donna of Chatham; two daughters, Carol East and her husband, Glenn of Gretna, and Gloria Sink and her husband, Louis of Chatham; 11 grandchildren, Karen Shelton, Kevin East, Amanda Wydner, Jessica Dalton, Lauren Hagood, Misty Brooks, James Shelton, Rhonda Cardamuro, Randy Shelton, Tracey Shelton, and Ray Shelton; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Edward Pope, and Rev. Albert Moser. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
