Gretna……….Jimmy Ray Shelton, age 74 of Gretna passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born February 5, 1952 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Jimmy Shelton and Janie Meadows Shelton. Jimmy attended Gretna Church of God of Prophecy and retired from Virginia Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, growing a garden, and loved watching his grandkids play sports.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Huffman Shelton of the residence; one daughter, Misty Brooks & husband Tommy of Gretna; one son, James Shelton & wife, Monica of Hurt; one brother, Randall Shelton and wife, Donna of Chatham; two sisters, Carol East and husband, Glenn of Gretna and Gloria Sink and husband, Louis of Chatham; four grandchildren, Maverick Brooks & wife, Hannah, Remington Brooks & significant other, Macey Holley, Ryder Brooks and Owen Shelton; one great grandchild, Steel Brooks; one great grandchild on-the-way; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Pastor Buster Anderson.
