Rocky Mount……..Jimmy Eugene Ransom, age 74 of Rocky Mounty died Monday, September 7, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born July 12, 1941 in Roanoke County he was a son of the late Glen Robert Ransom and Eunice Chittum Ransom. He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Ransome; and two sisters, Carolyn Robertson and Darlene Wydner. He was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church. He enjoyed dancing, working on cars and riding motorcycles.
He is survived by two sons, James Ransom and his wife, Lisa of Glade Hill and William Ransom and his wife, Tammy of Vinton; one daughter, Sheilah Sink and her husband, Mark of Roanoke; two brothers, Winford Ransome and his wife, Jean of Moneta and Wayne Ransome and his wife, Betty of Craig County; eight grandchildren, James Ransom, Jr., Jessica Ransom, John Ransom, Tara Ransom, Timmy Ransom, Kevin Ransom, Chris Hiner and Jacob Sink; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Greenfield Baptist Church.
