Gretna…..James (Jimmy) Ernest Matherly, Jr., age 63 of 405 Vaden Drive, Gretna died Thursday December 22, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital after several years of declining health.
Born December 3, 1948 in Roanoke, he was a son of Ora Blair Matherly of Gretna and the late James Ernest Matherly, Sr. He was predeceased by one brother, Mark Matherly. He was a member of Summersett Baptist Church, a former employee of Klopman and a former CNA at Autumn Care. Jimmy was a US Air Force veteran.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his son, Jamie Matherly and wife, Heather of Hurt: his daughter, Cindy Catron and husband, Roy of Gretna; a sister Julia Rowles and husband, Keith of Franklin; 5 grandchildren; and one nephew and two nieces.
Graveside services with Military Service by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Rev. Curtis English.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
