Hurt…..James "Jimmy" Harrison Jefferson, age 75 of Hurt died Friday, October 16, 2015 at his residence.
Born January 27, 1940 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Hubert Garland Jefferson and Ethel Adkins Jefferson. He was predeceased by one brother, Clark Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson was an Army Veteran and a former employee at Babcock & Wilcox. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, working in the garden and he loved his two cats, Tippy and Blue.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie Newcomb Jefferson of the residence; two sons, Scott Jefferson of Hurt and Cale Jefferson and his wife, Melissa of Gretna; two sisters, Peggy Crawley and her husband, Russell of Chatham and Pam Brooks and her husband, Ray of Chatham; three grandchildren, Reagan Sutphin and her husband, Blake, Dustin Johnson and Nathan Jefferson; three great-grandchildren, Jillian Sutphin, Jayden Sutphin and Ava Sutphin; and two special friends, Joel Arrington and Gordon Reed.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Dr. Elwood Seamster. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow at Motley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
