Pittsville……….Jimmie Barker, age 62 of Pittsville died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Gretna Health & Rehab Center.
Born June 13, 1952 in Danville he was a son of the late George Edward Barker and Bertha Jefferson Barker. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl Barker and Clyde Barker and a sister, Betty Sue Barker. Jimmie was a member and Deacon of Round Pond Baptist Church; and was a former employee of Doyle Enterprises. He enjoyed gardening, talking with his friends at Blair's Store and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha McAlexander Barker of the residence; one daughter, Susan Campbell and her husband, John of Moneta; two sisters, Alice Faye Shelton and her husband, Maurice Shelton, Jr. of Pittsville and Linda Gail Barker of Pittsville; two grandchildren, Chelsea Martin and Hannah Campbell; and one great-grandchild, Savannah Sarver.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Round Pond Baptist Church Cemetery by Ricky Hogan.
The family will receive friends following the service at Round Pond Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of his sister, Linda Gail Barker, 1825 Darby Road, Pittsville.
