Gretna……Jerry Allen Gibson, age 78 of Gretna died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born February 15, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Herbert Anderson Gibson and Belva Hardy Gibson.  He was predeceased by a special friend, Jane Angell.  Mr. Gibson was a corrections officer at Camp 15; and he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and horse racing.

He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Gibson of Rustburg, and Allen Taylor & wife, Holly of Fishersville; two sisters, Inez Cook of Statesboro, GA, and Elizabeth Seyle and husband, George of Moncks Corner, SC; three grandchildren, Cody Gibson and wife, Morgan, Dusty Gibson, and Blake Taylor; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Wetherford Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
