Gretna……….Jerry Wayne Brumfield, age 59 of Gretna died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the residence of his mother.
Born June 18, 1953 in Altavista he was a son of Louise Saunders Brumfield of Pittsville and the late Carson Woodson Brumfield. Jerry was a carpenter; and he enjoyed fishing, and drag racing.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his son, Jason Payne of Altavista; one brother, Ken Brumfield and his fiancée, Tina Handy of Chatham; one sister, Sharon Norcutt and her husband, Ricky of Callands; and a granddaughter, Skylar Payne.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield and Ronnie Simpson. Burial will follow in Summersett Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his mother, Louise S. Brumfield, 4841 Pittsville Road, Pittsville.
The family would like to give a special thanks to caregiver Debbie Rorer, and also a special thanks to Sheila and Tony Rice and Ben Barbour for their support and care over a long fought battle.
