Sandy Level……Jerry Wayne Benfield, age 40 of Sandy Level died Sunday, October 27, 2019 as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Born October 20, 1979 in Woodbridge, he was a son of Jerry W. Benfield and Sharon Smith Benfield of Sandy Level.  He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Howard Wade Benfield and Shirley Spraggins Benfield; maternal grandparents, John Smith and Evone Buff Smith; and an uncle Jack B. Smith.  Jerry was a born again Christian and a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church.  He had a heart of gold and a jovial personality.  Jerry was an excellent mechanic; and avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman.  He enjoyed four wheeling, riding motorcycles, jet skiing, spending time on the lake, socializing with family and friends, playing cards, and listening to music, especially country music.

In addition to his parents he is survived by aunts and uncles, Wade Benfield and wife, Beverly, Louise Benfield Lee, Susan Smith Doga and husband, Nawaz, and Glenda Smith Wheeler; and cousins, Marcella Drain and husband, Bill, Chad Wheeler and wife, Michelle, Melanie Wheeler, Nathan Benfield and wife, Danielle, Steve Benfield, Steve Spiece, and Shirley Ann Lee.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sandy Level Baptist Church by Pastor Kendell Smith. Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sandy Level Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of his parents, Jerry and Sharon Benfield.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sandy Level Baptist Church, 10817 West Gretna Road, Sandy Level, VA 24161 in memory of Jerry Benfield.
