Obituary

After several months of strength, determination, and courage Jeffery "Jeff" B. Pittman went to build mansions in heaven on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at his home in Grit, Virginia. He was 46 years old.

Jeff was born in Mt. Holly, NJ to Evva Chambers and the late William H. Pittman, Sr. He grew up in the Browns Mills/Pemberton area loving the woods and the water just being a "Piney."  In 1990, after an all-night phone conversation with a beautiful girl Jeff found the love of his life, Jennifer. In 1992, God granted Jeff another gift of love, his daughter Malorie. In 1996, Jeff and Jennifer were married and raised their daughter in a loving home on Woolman's Lake in Mt. Holly, NJ where Jeff met his long-time friends the late Lenny Rice, the late Mark Cirillo ("The Clydes"), and Michael "Vermin" Rice. Several years later, Jeff and his family moved to Virginia. It was in Virginia that he found a love for hunting and received his greatest gift of love, his two grandsons, Hunter and Wyatt.

Jeff was a strong and stubborn man, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, music, and church. He was a highly skilled and hard-working carpenter that could fix or build anything. Jeff was very proud of his work or craftsmanship as he called it, often pointing out past job sites while driving. His greatest accomplishment was becoming a Poppop to Hunter and Wyatt. His love for his grandsons was beyond explanation and will always be remembered. He strongly believed that a person should always work for what they have and make the best of what life gives you. His stubbornness and strength carried him through life, especially through his battle with cancer, Jeff never gave up and never backed down.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer (Beebe) Pittman; his daughter Malorie Pittman (Corey Kidd); his two grandsons Hunter and Wyatt; his mother Evva Chambers; his parents-in-laws Alice and Bill Farr, Sr. and Thomas and Denise Grimm; his  four siblings: Harry Slaymaker (Christina), David Pittman (Jaclyn), Denise Gillespie (Calvin), William Pittman, Jr. (Gerri); his sister-in-law Lynn-Zee Grimm; his two brothers-in-law, Jason Farr (Heather) and Bill Farr III; nieces and nephews, his Pittsville Pentecostal Church family; his UVA Roommate John Keeler; his lawn-mowing buddy Shirley Forloines; his work family Osman "Ozzy" Medina (Charity) and Daniel Holloway (Crystal); as well as, numerous other co-workers, family and friends.

Because of current conditions with the coronavirus pandemic, a graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery (4281 Pittsville Rd. Gretna, VA) by Pastor Thomas Lee.  At other times, friends and family may pay their respects to the family at Jeffery and Jennifer's home.

In lieu of flowers and as an extra special thank you, Jeff requested that all donations be sent to the Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O. Box 452 Gretna, VA 24557 (check or money order made payable to Pittsville PH Church) in order for the Men's and Women's Ministries to continue to provide others the same love and support they showed him and his family, over the years.

Special thanks to Centra Hospice, Cancer Center, Cardiology (Gretna office), Gretna Medical, Gretna Drug Pharmacy, St. John's PH Church and Monte Vista Baptist Church for all their support.
