Jeannette Oakes Barbour

Hurt……..Jeannette Oakes Barbour, age 73 of Hurt died Monday, September 26, 2016 at Gretna Health & Rehab.
Born March 11, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late George Oakes and Mary Burch Oakes. She was a member of the Altavista Church of Christ and was a retired employee of Ross Laboratories. Jeannette was a graduate of Climax High School, enjoyed cooking, canning, spending time outdoors and with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Haywood (Tick) Barbour, Jr. of the residence; one son Gregory Barbour and wife, Julia of Bedford; two brothers, Marvin Oakes and wife, Mary of Gretna and Donnie Oakes of Huntington, WV; a sister-in-law, Rachel Mullins of Vinton; two grandchildren, Nicholas Barbour and Brittney Barbour and two step-grandchildren, James Abbott and Heather Abbott.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews and Rev. Walter Coles. Burial will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
