Hurt………Jeannette Crawley Bailess, age 66 of Hurt died Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Heartland Health Care Center in Lynchburg.
Born October 23, 1953 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Ramsey Crawley and Ola Pickeral Crawley. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard "Mike" Michael Bailess; three sisters, Irene C. David, Janice Crawley, and Gail C. Perkins; and one brother, Sam Crawley. She was a receptionist with Centra Gretna Medical Center and was the manager of the floral department at Harris Teeter. Mrs. Bailess was a member of Gretna Christian Church. She held various offices in the church, including past president of CWF, assistant secretary and treasurer of the board, secretary of Sunday school, choir member and deaconess, and she decorated the church for many occasions. She loved her church family, but most of all she loved the Lord. Jeannette had a life of many struggles, but she was strong, and with the help of the Lord she journeyed on. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching and attending their sporting events; and she enjoyed flowers and riding in the country.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Bailess and wife, Heidi of Hurt and Jamee Bailess and wife, Emily of Hurt; three sisters, Christine Oakes and husband, Dwight of Gretna, Shirlene Barley and husband, Donnie of Hurt, and Carolyn Bailess and husband, Scotty of Hurt; three brothers, Russell Crawley and wife, Peggy of Chatham, Earnest Crawley and wife, Judy of Indiana, and Danny Crawley and wife, Martha of Evington; five grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Kayden, Mallory, and Sadie; a great-grandchild, Adyline; a brother-in-law, Calvin Perkins of Hurt; and a sister-in-law, Judy Crawley of Colorado.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2020 at Gretna Burial Park by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. R.G. Rowland.
