Gretna………Nomie Jean Doss, age 85 of Gretna passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 at Parkview Retirement Village in Sanford, NC.

Born August 30, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Wilsie Barnard Doss, Sr. and Octavia Frances Haskins Doss.  She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Clarence Doss and a sister, Mozelle Doss.  Mrs. Doss was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and she was a former caterer with Billy's Cakes and Catering. She enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by one son, Mark Wayne Stewart, Sr. and wife, Denise of Sanford, NC; one daughter, Rene Shelton of Lynchburg; three brothers, Linwood Doss of Gretna, Wayne Doss and wife, Sylvia of Gretna, Wilsie Doss, Jr. and wife, Judy of Chatham and Carroll Doss and wife, Shirley of Gretna; two sisters, Sarah Lane and husband, George of Greensboro, NC and Sandra Hodges of Gretna; four grandchildren, Berkley Shelton and fiancé, Jesus Lopez, Robbie Shelton and wife, Hannah, Mark Stewart, Jr. and wife, Lexi and Mariah Stewart; and five great-grandchildren, Marshall, Andriana, Mason, Camila and Luca.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Dr. Robert G. Moore III.  Burial will follow in New Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
