Gretna…..Janie Meadows Shelton, age 85 of Gretna died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 18, 1929 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Claude Meadows and Mary Eanes Meadows. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Shelton; three brothers, Alton Meadows, Claude Meadows, Jr. Paul Meadows; and three sisters, Elnora Betterton, Rebecca Montgomery and Nell Marks. Mrs. Meadows was a member of Gretna Church of God of Prophecy and was a home maker.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Ray Shelton and his wife, Vickie of Gretna and Randall Shelton and his wife, Donna of Chatham; two daughters, Carol East and her husband, Glenn of Gretna and Gloria Sink and her husband, Louis of Chatham; eleven grandchildren, Karen Shelton, Kevin East, Amanda Wydner, Jessica Dalton, Lauren Hagood, Misty Brooks, James Shelton, Rhonda Cardamuro, Randy Shelton, Tracey Shelton, and Ray Shelton; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Albert Moser and Rev. Edward Pope. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
