Rustburg……….Janie Dalton Blanks, age 90 of Rustburg departed this life Sunday, July 2, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
Born August 19, 1926 in Halifax County she was a daughter of the late Jessie Bennett Dalton and Homie Eanes Dalton. Mrs. Blanks was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Albert Allen Blanks; a son, Jerry Blanks; one sister, Frances Motley; and a son-in-law L.C. Fisher. Mrs. Blanks was a member of Staunton Baptist Church and was a former employee at General Electric. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Blanks and wife, Amie of Java; four daughters, Judy Fisher of Nathalie, Joanne Rorer and husband, Garry of Hurt, Barbara Dalton and husband, Philip of Gretna and Jane Crews of Lynchburg; three brothers, Alton Dalton and wife, Gloria of Spout Springs, Gordon Dalton and wife, Doris of Lynchburg and Avery Dalton of Spout Springs; two sisters, Lillian Barksdale of Brookneal and Effie Epperson of Altavista; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Blanks of Gretna; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Straightstone Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Pastor David Bell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
