Gretna………Janice Jefferson Short Roach, age 72 of Gretna passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Born June 29, 1953 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of the late Walter Reevie Jefferson and Mildred McCrickard Jefferson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Bobby Lee Roach; and two sisters, Hazel Barbour and Ava Ann Jefferson.  Mrs. Roach was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and she retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.  She loved flowers, carrying mail and her beloved dog, "Bentley."

She is survived by two sons, Kevin Short and wife, Crystal of Pittsville and Troy Roach and wife, Sherry of Gretna; four brothers, James Jefferson and wife, Sandy, Chrispen Jefferson and wife, Dena, Raymond Jefferson and wife, Barbara and Ronnie Jefferson and wife, Marie; three sisters, Virginia Almond, Judy Shelton and Valerie Blankenship; grandchildren, Haley Short, Waylon Short and Dakota Rowland; and her honorary grandchildren, Cory Godfrey and Stacey Simpson and husband, Derick.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
