Gretna…….Janet Talbott Matherly, age 78 of Gretna died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her residence.

Born July 8, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Talbott and Clara Dalton Wonner.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Melvin Matherly, Sr.; one daughter, Cynthia Elliott; one brother, Felix Wonner; and one sister, Edith Keatts.  Mrs.  Matherly was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and was a home maker.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing Bingo.  She was a member of the Eagles club; and she took wonderful care of her husband, Ken and her daughter, Cindy.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell Elliott and wife, Debra of Mims, FL, Kenny Matherly, Jr.  and wife, Kim of Gretna and William Matherly and wife, Tammy of Gretna; two daughters, Arlene Dalton and husband, Glenn of Gretna and Vicki Harrelson and husband, Ron of Danville; two sisters, Joan Farmer of Gretna and Patricia Hammock of Java; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews and Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Motley United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Glenn Dalton, 1784 N. Music Street, Gretna.
