Janet Harris Buchanan

Lynchburg…….Janet Harris Buchanan, age 85 of Lynchburg formerly of Gretna passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born October 13, 1930 in Bridgewater she was a daughter of the late John Carter Harris and Lessie Glick Harris. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Lee Buchanan; and a brother, Carter Harris. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church and was the co-owner of Seminole Gift Shop. She enjoyed reading, singing in the choir and housekeeping.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Buchanan and wife, LaDonna of Kings Mountain, NC and Greg Buchanan and wife, Sandra of Blairsville, GA; one daughter, Jackie Winston and husband, Tim of Rustburg; one brother, Jay Harris and wife, Louise of Louisville, KY; one sister, Ann Wine and husband, Ray of Bridgewater; one half sister, Joan Hargiss of TN; a sister-in-law, Helen Harris of Glade Springs; four grandchildren, Meghan Arant and husband, Clint, Averie Conner and husband, Jack, Christopher Winston and wife, Ashley and Kari Winston and friend, Stephen Keel; and five great-grandchildren, Micah Conner, Leland Conner, Hunter Winston, Baylee Winston and Karlie Saunders.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Sharon Forbes and Rev. Charlie S. Haley, Jr. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church.
