Gretna……….James Andrew Thompson, III, age 61 of 873 Moschler Drive, Gretna died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born February 22, 1950 in Danville, he was a son of Ruby Parrish Thompson of Gretna and the late James A. Thompson, Jr. He was a member, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Riceville. Mr. Thompson was a former employee of Ross, and was a farmer.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Linda Thompson of the residence; one son, James Andrew Thompson IV and his wife, Cassie of Gretna; one daughter, Amanda Hines and her husband, Logan of Hurt; one step-son, Wade Quarles of Gretna; one brother, William L. Thompson and his wife, Debbie of Gretna; one sister, Kathy Puckett and her husband, Don Haas of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Caleb Hines, Emily Hines, Cydney Thompson, and James Andrew Thompson, V; two step-grandchildren, Miranda Quarles, and Sabrina Quarles; four nieces and nephews, William Thompson, Jr., Adam Thompson, Jessica Anderson, and Jason Puckett; and three great nieces and nephews, William Lee Thompson III, Abigayle Thompson, and Austin Edmunds.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Dr. Dave Cochran, and Rev. Neville Shelton.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Ruby Parrish Thompson, 5685 Riceville Road, Gretna.
