Gretna……….James Edward Rigney, age 76 of Gretna died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at his residence.

Born October 6, 1942 in the Callands area of Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Randolphie Croffie "Randy" Rigney and Nannie Adkins Rigney.  He was predeceased by a brother, Rodney Rigney; and a sister, Betty Neal.  Mr. Rigney retired from Dupont after 37 years of service.  He loved playing golf and spending time with his friends at Cedars Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Rigney of the residence; one daughter, Lolita Janey of Martinsville; one step-son, Josh Kitchens and wife, Mary Margaret of Gretna; one sister, Peggy R. Crisp of Gentry, AR; three grandchildren, Drake Shockley, Ethan Kitchens, and Ava Kitchens; and two great grandchildren, Layla Shockley, and Drago Shockley.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Cedars Country Club beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019.
