Roanoke…..Dr. James Herbert Midkiff, age 61 of Roanoke died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Franklin County.
Born January 15, 1952 in Coral Gables, FL, he was a son of Frank T. Midkiff, Sr. of Gretna and the late Martha Jane Head Midkiff. He was predeceased by a brother Frank T. Midkiff, Jr. and his father-in-law Albert Hancock. He enjoyed fly fishing and was proud to have played the trumpet in Super Bowl II with his high school band in the Orange Bowl in Miami, FL Jim was a graduate of Duke University and received his DDS in dentistry from the Medical College of Virginia. He practiced in Manassas for twenty-nine years before moving to Roanoke where he was a partner with Cave Spring Dental Arts.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Susan Hancock Midkiff; three sons Tyler Midkiff & Angelia, Adam Midkiff & Andrea and Jake Midkiff & Jacqueline; one daughter, Jill D'Agostino & Joe; one sister, Margaret Midkiff & Kenneth; his mother-in-law, Barbara S. Hancock; six grandchildren Antonio, Alessandro, Sofia, Amalia, Tomas and Noah; and his beloved pet, Sophie Puppy.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service in the Greenfield Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
