Gretna……….James Joyce Hall, age 82 of Gretna, died Monday, November 1, 2021 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born March 7, 1939 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late James Joyce Hall and Ethel Adkins Hall.  He was predeceased by four brothers, Larry Hall, Louis Hall, Wayne Hall, and Leslie Hall; and two sisters, Glenda Dale Hall, and Lois Callahan.  Mr. Hall retired from Ross Laboratories and later worked with Hall's Logging.  He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.  James enjoyed drag racing, working on cars, hunting, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Moorefield Hall of the residence; one daughter, Penny Haley and husband, Charlie of Gretna; two brothers, Gordan Hall and wife, Linda of Evington, and Gene Hall of Evington; one sister, Marie Scheurman of Altavista; two grandchildren, Taylor Haley of Gretna, and Chandler Haley United States Army and wife, Sierra of Fort Stewart in Hinesville, GA; four great-grandchildren, Riley Rae Haley, Bentley Lambert, Layla Lambert, and Madison Satterfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gretna Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Gretna, VA 24557, or to Renan Volunteer Fire Department, 405 Straightstone Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
