James Leslie Doss Sr., age 79, of Altavista passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at his residence.

Born April 3, 1946 in the Gladys community of Campbell County, Virginia he was the youngest of twelve children to the late Charlie James McKinley Doss and Mary Lee Layne Doss.

James was an avid gardener, wood worker and mechanic by profession and hobby.  He enjoyed fishing, canoeing and the great outdoors.  A much beloved father, grandfather and neighbor with a heart of gold.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Doss; two children, James, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl and Mary Thomas and her husband, Stuart; and two grandchildren, James III and his wife, Mandy and Conner Doss.

The family will hold a private celebration for a well-lived life.
