Gretna……….James "Reford" Alley, age 79 of Gretna died Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 3, 1945 in Pikeville, KY, he was a son of the late Ogle Edward Alley and Gladys May Alley.  He was predeceased by his foster parents, Reed Jennings and Ruby Jennings; and two brothers, Gary Alley and Phillip "Bo" Alley.  Mr. Alley retired from Moore's Electric; and he was a was a Mason and member of Polk Lodge #61. He loved dairy farming, hunting, fishing and auto racing.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Moschler Alley of the residence; two daughters, Donna Alley Motley and husband, Jarrett of Chatham and Jessica Alley Smith and husband, Scott of Union Hall; one brother, Benjamin "Benny" Alley and wife, Thelma of Louisville, KY; one grandson, whom he adored, Benjamin James Smith; and three special friends, Johnny Bailess, Scotty Bailess and David Bailess.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Ronnie Simpson.  Burial will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jarrett Motley, 6575 Chalk Level Road, Chatham.
