Hurt……..Luther James "Jimmy" Alfred age 67 of Hurt died Friday, July 6, 2018 at his residence.

Born August 2, 1950 in Lynchburg, VA he was a son of Roy F. Alfred of Gretna and the late Estelle Hannah Shields Mitchell.  Jimmy was an Army veteran of Vietnam. Following his service in Vietnam he worked as an Army lab technician and as a carpenter.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and NASCAR.

He is survived by one son, Daniel Alfred of Lynchburg; two sisters, Denise Moran and Kenny of Gretna and Crystal Henderson and Tim of Lynchburg; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 in Green Lawn Cemetery, Hurt by Pastor Mack Almond.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
