Union Hall……….Calvin Jake Hudson, age 85 of 11935 Old Franklin Turnpike, Union Hall died Monday, May 2, 2011 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem.
Born May 9, 1925 in Franklin County he was a son of the late, Harvey Hudson and Pokie Housman Hudson. Jake was predeceased by a foster son, Kim Patrick Hudson. He was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and was a retired employee of VDOT. Mr. Hudson enjoyed camping, gardening, and riding around the neighbourhood in his truck.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Lucille Cook Hudson of the residence; two sons, C.J. Hudson, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Chesnee, SC, and Tommy Lee Hudson and wife, Magaline of Chesnee, SC; one daughter, Delores Robertson of Rocky Mount; a former son-in-law, Steve Roberston of Glade Hill; two sisters, Clara B. Hodges and husband, Carlton of Rocky Mount, and Frances Hodges and husband, Roy of Rocky Mount; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Hudson, Doris Cook, Peggy Ashworth, and Jean Neville; one brother-in-law, Roger Cook and wife, June; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Dr. Kendell Smith and Brian Ashworth. Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
