Gretna…..Jacqueline Edmonds Crews, age 86 of Gretna went peacefully to meet her blessed Savior Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at her residence.
Born August 12, 1929 in Campbell County she was a daughter of the late John Claude Edmonds and Lucy Hunt Edmonds. She was predeceased by her husband, Edison Ford Crews; two sisters, Mary Self, Edna Edmonds; and one brother, Harold Edmonds. Mrs. Crews was a lifetime member of Straightstone Baptist Church and was active in the WMU. Her Christian faith was most dearly expressed through her love, service, and prayers for her family. She worked alongside her husband, on the family farm for 63 years. She had many talents, including growing beautiful flowers and gardens, sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She also worked as a substitute school teacher for Pittsylvania County Schools.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Crews of Gretna and Peggy Harris and her husband, David of Gretna; two brothers, John Edmonds and his wife, Nancy of Fredericksburg and Eugene Edmonds and his wife, Mary of Gretna; two sisters, Elizabeth Barnett and her husband, Bennie of Newport News and Margaret Hood and her husband, Larry of Canandaigua, NY; and two granddaughters, Amy Libeau and her husband, Todd of Lynchburg and Leslie Harris of Chatham.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Straightstone Baptist Church by Pastor Jason Mauk and Rev. John Edmonds. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
