Mrs. Jacqueline Fisher "Jackie" Bond, widow of Dr. Lester Ray Bond, age 91 of Hollyberry Acres, Gretna departed this life from natural causes on Monday, January 17, 2022.

She was born on December 18, 1930 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Samuel Clarence Fisher and Francis Lucille Aldridge Fisher.  She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Lester R. Bond; and an infant son, Jeffrey Jason Bond.

She was baptized in Belmont Baptist Church in Roanoke where she was married to Lester Ray Bond on August 19, 1950.  They lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, Columbus, Ohio, and Orlando, Florida before settling in Gretna, Virginia where Dr. Bond practiced medicine until his death on February 21, 1991.  Mrs. Bond graduated with honor from Roanoke College receiving a Bachelors Degree in Biology.  She spent one year at UVA working on her Masters in Biology.  She graduated in 1952 as a medical technologist and received her M.T. from UVA.  Mrs. Bond was accepted to UVA Medical School, but chose to go with her husband to Ohio State for his residency.  She was a member of the PACE Club for many years and was a Gretna Clown for many years.  Mrs. Bond was a Charter Member of the Gretna Lioness Club.

She is survived by five children, Dr. Michael Lee Bond and wife, Betty of Gretna, Gerald Douglas Bond of Gretna, Leslie Bond-King and husband, Michael of Pulaski, Dr. Nathan Patrick Bond and wife, Pam of Virginia Beach, and Christopher Lynn Bond and wife, Lisa of Clayton, North Carolina, 15 grandchildren, Jared and wife, Kelly, Jamie and fiancé, Stevie, Cory and wife, Kimberly, Derek and wife, Lisa, Dustin and wife, Jayne, Reagan and husband, Aaron, Jeffrey and wife, Megan, Corbin and wife, Angela, Lydia, Michaela and husband, Colby, James, Athamandia and husband, Matt, Nicole, Andrew, and Anastasia and husband, Alex; 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. R.G. Rowland, Rev. Bob Ballance and Keith Motley.  A private burial will be held at Gretna Burial Park.

Mrs. Bond will be available for viewing at her residence.
