Gretna…..Jack Morgan Mason, age 90 of 189 Azalea Drive, Gretna died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
Born November 13, 1922 in Campbell County he was a son of the late Ocie Lee Mason and Josephine Dudley Mason. He was predeceased by two brothers, Tom Curtis (Sam) Mason and George Mason; a son-in-law, Samuel Earl Blair and a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Mason. Mr. Mason was a Deacon at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a song leader for over 55 years. He was the owner/operator of Masons Garage and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a musician and made music with his friends every Friday night at Pickerals Crossing for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 71 years, Erleen Elliott Mason of the residence; two sons, Tommy Mason and his wife, Patsy of Gretna, and Lee Mason of Gretna; two daughters, Joyce Routon and her husband, Murrell of Gretna, and Carolyn Wyatt and her husband, Harold of Appomattox; one brother, Hubert Mason of Gretna; one sister, Pauline Smith of Gretna; 8 grandchildren 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Michael Allen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
