Irvin Faris
Hurt........Irvin Douglas Faris, age 71 of 5652 Blue Ridge Drive, Hurt, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease at the Hospice House in Lynchburg.
Born November 14, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late, John Daniel Faris and Edna Alice Simpson Faris. He was predeceased by a brother, Curtis Faris; two sisters, Dorothy Myers and Dottie Nance; and a close friend, Chris Smith. Irvin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch, a retired employee of Burlington/Klopman and was a beekeeper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bailess Faris of the residence; one son, Greg Faris and wife, Debbie of Forest; one brother, Jessie Faris and wife, Becky of Hurt; two sisters, Delma Rowland of Gretna and Ruby Barbour and husband, Jerry of Hurt; two grandchildren who were the love of his life, Gillian Faris and Caleb Faris; mother-in-law, Vera Bailess of Gretna; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Faris, Carroll and Loretta Bailess, Ronnie and Elizabeth Bailess and Wayne and Tammy Bailess; his fishing buddy, Earnest Farris; his beekeeper friend, Walter Saunders; special buddies, Hunter Faris, Johnathan Bailess and Neil Wheeler; special friend and Physician, Dr. Tom Nygaard and nurse Christy Moon; all the staff of the Centra Health Cardiovascular Group and Hospice of the Hills employees, Elizabeth Copes, Georgette Payne, Vanessa Davis and the nurses at Hospice House; many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch by President J. William Fowler. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of the Hills 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503
