Gretna……….Irene Turner Johnson, age 86 of Gretna died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born August 14, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Louis Turner and Sally Howell Turner. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Ramsey Johnson; a son, Earl Thomas Johnson; six brothers, Floyd Turner, Jack Turner, Al Turner, Martin Turner, Ray Turner, and Junior Turner; and four sisters, Elizabeth Rorer, Opal Turner, Annie Sink, and Edith Kepley. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church, and was a home maker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning and freezing vegetables.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Johnson and wife, Pauline of Gretna and Jimmy Johnson of Gretna; one daughter, Martha Scott and husband, William (Bill) of Chatham; one brother, Rex Turner and wife, Nadeen of Dry Fork; four grandchildren, Dwayne Johnson, Robyn Kramer, April Berger and Justin Scarce; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery by Ramsey Taylor.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
