Lynchburg………Irene Saunders Harding, age 93 of Lynchburg passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born March 16, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late William Ashford Saunders and Fannie Jones Saunders.  She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Haden Harding; one son, George Lamberth; two brothers, Otis Saunders and James "Jim" Saunders; and three sisters, Ruby Megginson, Kathleen Dunbar and Jean Taylor.  Mrs. Harding was a member of Spring Road Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Mills.  She loved her church family; and she loved to bake cakes and share her sweets all over town.

She is survived by three children, Donna Hayden and husband, Darryl of Lynchburg, Jerry Lamberth of Halifax and Janice Lamberth of Gretna; two brothers, Shirley Saunders and wife, Francis of Hurt and James Rust and wife, Bernice of Chatham; four grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Saunders of Columbus, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Sue Bailey and husband, Willard of Burlington, NC.

Memorial graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at Gretna Burial Park by Pastor Ronnie Simpson.
