Gretna…..Iola Dalton Gibson, age 93 of Gretna died Monday, December 12, 2016.
Born January 19, 1923 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Alva Addison Dalton and Annie Hogan Dalton. She was predeceased by her husband, Acie Boyd Gibson; three brothers, Gatewood Dalton, Ed Dalton and Berkley Dalton; and three sisters, Laura Shelton, Myrtle Dove and Vennie Worley. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Altavista Church of Christ and was a retired seamstress with Pannill Knitting. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, cooking and dancing.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Gibson and wife, Sandra of Hurt and Darrell Gibson and wife, Cindy of Gretna; one daughter, Deborah Gibson Hutcherson and husband, David of Hurt; one sister, Alyne Barley of Gretna; five grandchildren, Chris Gibson, Kirk Gibson, Charles Hutcherson, Dawn Simmons and Ash Hutcherson; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lory Brafford, Minister. Burial will follow in the Gibson Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
