Gretna…..Howard Taft (H.T.) Yeatts, Jr., age 73 of 3116 Old Mine Road, Gretna, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 2, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Howard Taft Yeatts, Sr. and Elizabeth Ramsey Yeatts. He was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Yeatts. Mr. Yeatts was a member and Deacon of Piney Fork Baptist Church. He retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections, and was a farmer. Mr. Yeatts was a member of the Virginia National Guard, and a member of Anderson Masonic Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed working with livestock, including donkeys, horses, cows and dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise Keesee Yeatts of the residence; three sons, Taft Yeatts and wife, Karen of Gretna, Allen Yeatts and wife, Michele of Durham, NC, and James Yeatts of Gretna; one sister, Fay Lowe of Gretna; eight grandchildren, Beth Yeatts, Alaina Yeatts, Brandy Strausbaugh, Kristin Dickerson, Meagan Long, Jared Reutter, Julie Reutter and Brent Reutter; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Piney Fork Baptist Church by Rev. Mark Snodgrass. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, and other times will be at the residence.
