Gretna……….Howard Alexander Wood, age 64 of 1413 Straightstone Road, Gretna, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his residence.
Born March 31, 1948 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Sidney Alexander Wood and Louise Cothran Wood. He was predeceased by a brother Gene Wood. Mr. Wood was an Army Veteran having served two tours in Vietnam. After he retired from Ross Laboratories he was the owner/operator of Woody's Place. Mr. Wood enjoyed golf, and baseball, he especially liked UVA and the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hutcherson Wood of the residence; a step-daughter, Pamela Fields of Gretna, a sister, Carol King of Altavista; a step-grandson, Jay Fields; two nieces, Terrie Moore, and Linda Cole; two nephews, Howard King, and Billy King; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
