Hurt…..Hester Mae Miller Barrett, age 82 of 204 Picker Circle Drive, Hurt went to spend eternity with her Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born April 22, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Thomas Miller and Ora Mae Hogan Miller. She was predeceased by one brother, Carroll Miller; and four sisters, Illene Mattox, Pauline Walden, Virginia Walden, and Viola Barker. She was a retired CNA with Camelot Nursing Home, and was a member of Clement Memorial Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed playing and singing music, and loved reading her bible.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest Lovelace Barrett of the residence; two sons, Dean Irby and wife, Gail of Evington, and Mackey Irby and wife, Dianne of Altavista; two daughters, Teresa Newman and husband, Perry of Goode, and Betty Hutchins and husband, Jimmy of Hurt; one sister, Jannette Irby and husband, Pete of Hurt; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Nichols.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday October 9, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son, and daughter-in-law, Mackey and Dianne Irby of 6051 Gladys Road, Altavista.
