Gretna………Herman "Pete" Edward Meadows, age 97 of Gretna died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his residence.

Born April 23, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late John William Meadows and Mary "Lizzie" Elizabeth Payne Meadows. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Lula Andrews Meadows; a daughter, Patricia Meadows Yates; five brothers, Percy Meadows, Henry Meadows, "Rooster" Meadows, Clifton Meadows and "Jack" Meadows; and one sister, Jewel Taylor. "Pete" was a tobacco farmer all his life, he loved all of his animals on the farm and enjoyed his time working.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne Meadows and wife, Anne of Gretna and Kenneth Meadows of Gretna; one daughter, Sandra Simpson and husband, Steve of Leasburg, NC; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m.  Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Andrews Family Cemetery by Rev. Jason Andrews and Ramsey Taylor.
