Lynch Station………Herman "Hoot" Aubrey Gibson, age 93 of Lynch Station died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born June 19, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Gibson and Nell Hayden Gibson.  He was predeceased by one sister, Viola Hedrick; and four brothers, Ralph Gibson, Martin Gibson, Neal Gibson and Reid Gibson.  Mr. Gibson was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of the VFW, an avid and skilled hunter and fisherman, and the owner/operator of Gibson Quality Service.  He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church, was active in Kairos Prison Ministry, and sang with the Staunton River Boys for 14 years. "Hoot" never retired from his Christian service, and he loved asking people, "if they had made their final reservation."

He is survived by his wife, Helen Holland Gibson of the residence; one daughter, Linda Gibson Hogan and husband, Glenn of Lynch Station; one granddaughter, Michelle Hogan Lloyd and husband, Devin of Lynch Station; and two grand dogs, Mack and Bo.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Monte Vista Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Torres and Rev. Alan Murphy.  Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
