Gretna……….Helen Crider Hunt, age 80 of Gretna died Friday, December 1, 2023 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born February 22, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Allen Crider, Sr., and Clara Brumfield Crider.  She was predeceased by her husband, William Henry "Billy" Hunt, Jr.; two brothers, Clarence "Punk" Crider, Jr., and Joe Crider; and three sisters, Elna Koch, Joyce Crider, and Judy Simpson.  Mrs. Hunt was a member of Summersett Baptist Church, and she was a home maker.  She enjoyed being a mom to her children, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Gregory Vasser and wife, Nancy of Pittsville, Tim Vasser and wife Betty of Gretna, Scottie Vasser and wife, Tonya of Gretna, and Allen Vasser and Sherri of Vinton; one daughter Kristie Winoker and husband, Travis of Charlotte, NC; one step-son, Wayne Hunt and wife, Della of Lynch Station; two step-daughters, Wanda Reed and husband, Kenneth of Danville, and Tina Dagenhart and husband, Tracy of Evington; ten grandchildren, Daniel Vasser, Trevor Vasser, Lindsey Vasser, Brittany VanWhye, Misty Reynolds, Zane Vasser, Greyson Winoker, Kynley Winoker, Sophie Winoker and Reid Winoker; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, Kevin Meadows, Kerri Meadows, Heather Almond, Amanda Hunt and Destiny Dagenhart; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Summersett Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jason Andrews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Summersett Baptist Church, and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Tim, and Betty Vasser.
