Altavista……….Helen Richardson Crews, age 86 of Altavista died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab in Altavista.

Born April 27, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Percy Richardson and Mary Sue Yeatts Richardson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Melvin Crews; four brothers and two sisters.  Mrs. Crews retired from the Lane Company.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and she was a big NASCAR fan.

She is survived by three sons, James Melvin Crews and wife, Irene of Wilmington, NC, Thomas Crews and wife, Cindy of Penhook, and Lee Roy Crews and wife, Gale of Lynchburg; three daughters, Barbara A. Crews of Altavista, Patricia C. Pippin and husband, Roger of Altavista, and Diane C. Bayse and husband, Paul of Hurt; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Rev. David Bayse.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Roger Pippin, 1100 Broad Street, Altavista.
