Gretna……….Helen Shelton Andrews, age 87 of Gretna died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born August 27, 1926 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Reuben Sims Shelton and Anis Perkins Shelton. She was predeceased by her husband, Billipps "Bill" L. Andrews; two brothers, Marshall Shelton and Charles Shelton; and three sisters, Eleanor Layne, Pattie Hodges, and Linda Shelton. Mrs. Andrews was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was a former waitress. She loved to read, fish, and work with flowers.
She is survived by two daughters, Paulette Fretwell and her husband, Gene of Gretna, and Scarlette Deering and her husband, Derek of Venice, FL; one step-son, Quentin "Buck" Andrews of Altavista; one brother, Cecil Shelton and his wife, Faye of Gretna; four sisters, Phyllis Parker and her husband, Ben of Venice, FL, Azile Delpierre and her husband, Richard of Roanoke, Gypsy Shelton of Gretna, and Wanda Shelton of Chatham; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Harold Thornton and Ramsey Taylor. Burial will follow in the Andrews Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Gene Fretwell, 316 Ray Mill Road, Gretna.
