Gretna……….Hazel Rigney Yates, age 88 of Gretna died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Gretna Health and Rehab.

Born December 13, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Bedford Henry Rigney and Ressie Etta Tosh Rigney. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton Allen Yates; one brother, Carroll Rigney; and two sisters, Shirley Rigney and Mildred Parker. Mrs. Yates was a home maker; she loved making quilts, cross-stitching and fishing.

She is survived by two sons, Garry Yates and wife, Annette of Dry Fork, Thomas Yates and wife, Angie of Dry Fork; three daughters, Brenda Rich and husband, Wade of Danville, Linda Hines and husband, Eddie Weatherford of Dry Fork and Teresa Lee and husband, Ricky of Blairs; one sister, Rebecca Elliott; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Danville Memorial Gardens by Rev. Harold Thornton.

The family will receive friends at her daughter's and son-in-law's residence, Teresa and Ricky Lee in Blairs.
