Gretna……….Haywood "Scruchy" Preston Jacobs, age 82 of Gretna died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born October 16, 1934 in Bassett he was a son of the late Ollie Preston Jacobs and Elsie Chism Jacobs. He was predeceased by a brother, Curtis Jacobs and two sisters, Lorene Craft and Dorothy Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a member of West End Church of Christ and attended Sheva Church of Christ. He retired from Schrader-Bridgeport, and following retirement he enjoyed working outside, Blue Grass Music, and going to the beach.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schwitzerlett Jacobs of the residence; three daughters, Deborah Turner and husband, Richard of Gretna, Cindy Edwards and husband, Jimmy of Keeling, and Phyllis Kendrick and husband, Kelly of Chatham; one sister, Charlotte Pierce and husband, Louie of Gretna; two grandchildren, Kim Morris and husband, Travis and Courtney Kendrick; and two great-grandchildren, Makayla Morris and Lucas Morris.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Ron Voss, Minister and Curtis English, Minister. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister-in-law, Christine Schwitzerlett, 301 Henry Street, Gretna.
