Long Island……...Gus Brooks, age 81 of Long Island died Monday, November 25, 2024 at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Born July 25, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late James Thomas "Tom" Brooks and Nannie King Brooks.  He was predeceased by one brother, Tom Brooks, Jr.; and two sisters, Fannie Jane Brooks and Alberta Brooks.  Mr. Brooks retired from the Lane Company; and he loved his fur babies and carpentry work.

He is survived by eight sisters, Lucille Pugh and husband, Lawrence of Long Island, Irene Waller of Gretna, Evelyn Dawson of Gretna, Louise Weatherford and husband, Franklin of Gretna, Shirley Douglas and husband, Randy of Long Island, Mary Younger and husband, A.W. of Gretna, Cora Dawson of Chatham, and Clara Guthrie and husband, Robert of Hurt; two brothers, Roy Brooks and wife, Sandra of Long Island and Dan Brooks of Long Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Randy Foster.  Burial will follow in Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
