Hurt — Christopher Grant Simpson, age 55 of Hurt passed away Friday, September 25, 2026 at his residence.  He was a 1990 graduate of Gretna Sr. High School and a graduate of Danville Community College and was employed in the industrial field.

Born April 8, 1971 in Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Walter Stanley Simpson. He was the paternal grandson of the late Glady L. and Bessie F. Simpson and maternal grandson of the late Richard N. and Beulah J. Wells.

He is survived by his mother, Judy W. Simpson, a sister, Kelly S. Osborne and husband Scott, two nephews, Dylan M. Osborne of Washington, D.C., and Brian S. Osborne of Chatham, and fiancée, Courtney Hudson of Hurt, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends.

Grant taught himself to play the bass guitar and played in several bands over the years.  In later years, he enjoyed C B radio and talked with many people throughout the country and even foreign lands, making many friends. He was a quiet man but noticed lots of things around him, he was very observant. He loved animals and seemed to attract them to himself, especially his favorite buddy, Beautiful, who outran him on the 4-wheeler many times. He loved Nags Head when the fishing was good. He looked forward to playing in the snow like a kid at Christmas.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Altavista Church of Christ, officiated by Larry Evans, Minister. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall and other times will be at the residence.
