Gretna………Gordon "Stretch" Bennett Bolling, age 73 of Gretna died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born January 18, 1942 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Lawson Bennett Bolling and Hattie Carden Bolling. He was predeceased by a sister, L.V. Haley. Mr. Bolling was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church where he served as trustee. He was an Army Veteran of Vietnam and the co-owner of Bolling Brothers Construction. He enjoyed all sports; he played fast pitch softball for many years on local and traveling teams. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and skeet shooting.
He is survived by one brother, Kenneth Bolling and his wife, Ramona of Gretna; one sister, Dell Walker and her husband, David of Penhook; nieces and nephews, Lynn Dawson and her husband, Greg, Andra Towler, Amy Emond and her husband, Luc, Todd Bolling and his wife, Jennifer, and Margaret Harris and her husband, Ed; and a special great-niece, Lindsey.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Siloam United Methodist Church by Pastor Steve Morris. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 & Gretna Post 232 will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Ramona Bolling, 6112 West Gretna Road, Gretna.
