Hurt……….Melvin Glenn Hutcherson, age 63 of Hurt died Friday, April 27, 2018 at his residence.

Born February 7, 1955 in Lynchburg, he was a son of Ruby Dews Hutcherson of Hurt and the late Melvin Curtis (Buddy) Hutcherson.  Mr. Hutcherson was a retired Rural Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service, member of Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a farmer.  Glenn was a graduate of James Madison University and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He could fix anything and was a "Jack of All Trades".

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Chrystal A. Hutcherson of the residence; two daughters, Kimberly H. Ragland and husband, Gil of Altavista and Karen Hutcherson and Raul Ahmed of Tampa, FL; one brother, Kelly Hutcherson of Lynchburg; three sisters, Freda Jasper and husband, Tom of Hilton Head, SC, Rose Shelton and husband, Carroll of Hurt, and Beverly Dalton and husband, Jeff of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Adam Ritter, Lyndsay Ritter, Alex Ragland and Max Ragland and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Mark Hopkins, the Rev. Dr. L. H. Atkins, Rev. Robert Lanter, Rev. Mark Lampley and Gil Ragland

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times will be at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Gil Ragland in Altavista and his mother, Ruby D. Hutcherson, in Hurt.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 1212 Grit Road, Hurt, VA 24563.
