Pittsville……….Melvin Glenn Haskins, age 77 of Pittsville passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.

Born March 22, 1949 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late James Ernest Haskins and Snowie Barber Haskins.  He was predeceased by two brothers, James Haskins and Pete Haskins; and one sister, Anne Barbour.  Mr. Haskins was a retired supervisor with AEP and a member of Summersett Baptist Church.  He loved to hunt, fish, watch NASCAR and go to car shows.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jackson Haskins of the residence; two daughters, Ellen Whitlow and husband, Ed of Ringgold and Jill Haskins of Pittsville; and one sister, Barbara Franklin and husband, Ned of Gretna.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Summersett Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
